AAC Trial -- August 31

ENTRY LIST

PLEASE CHECK CAREFULLY AND
LET ME KNOW ASAP OF ANY CHANGES REQUIRED.

There will be minor tweaks to the running order within classes just to make sure that no one is running back to back, so check the gate list at the time of your walkthroughs.

We have a very full day, so first-dog time will be 9:00 SHARP, with the walkthrough starting about ten minutes ahead.

Measuring will be available starting about half an hour before the first dog time. In consideration of my very patient neighbours, please do not arrive more than an hour before the start time, and do your very best to keep the noise down, especially first thing in the morning.

As always, we'll really be counting on everyone to pitch in with everything from course building to timing and scribing -- all the tasks that make trials possible. Classes will be split so that everyone can help. I'd really, really appreciate it if everyone could sign up to help with at least two classes each day they're competing. You will have plenty of time to walk courses and get your dogs ready to run.

For those who entered by e-mail, forms and payment can be left in the gold box on the registration table.

For the last ten years, trials on Purple Hill have included a special ribbons-for-charity program, and this effort has remained in place with the advent of Spot On. For each ribbon not taken by competitors, a donation is made to a charity. Thousands of dollars over the years have gone to worthy causes as a result. If you keep and display your ribbons, by all means take them. If, however, they're likely to end up in a box somewhere or, worse, tossed away, consider leaving them here and Spot On will make sure their value is recognized in the form of a charitable donation.

Because I'm always dismayed by the vast collection of plastic bottles left over at the end of every trial, I'm urging you to bring your own hydration, preferably in reusable containers. Instead of providing bottled water at this trial, I will be donating twice what I'd normally spend on bottles to charity. There will be plenty of fresh, tasty water available from my deep, drilled well -- this is the same great drinking water that people line up for at a water-filling station not far from here.

General Stuff

IMPORTANT: There is no shade in the competition area. Please come well equipped with shade for you and your dogs. There will be cooling pools available.

Please drive very slowly while on the property. Drive into the fenced area and park toward the back of the field (i.e., the end toward the remains of the old barn and away from my neighbours' gray house). Please stay away from the old barn.

Basic rules of etiquette apply:

Dogs must be on leash at all times, except when in the ring or using the practice jump. If you must use a flexi-lead, please do so carefully and with consideration for those around you.

Do not walk dogs down the driveway or anywhere other than in the designated areas (i.e., within the fenced area or in the large field east of the house -- to get from one area to the other, please cross in front of the house).

Pick up after your dogs, and please don't allow them to pee on my gardens or on anything that has to be handled (canopies, garbage cans, etc.). It's just really icky.

Please dispose of cigarette butts appropriately. Better yet, don't smoke -- especially around the rings.

Please respect the space needs of other competitors and their dogs.

If you're leaving a shade tent or anything else here overnight, be sure it is very well secured.

If you owe for runs, please put your payment in an envelope in the gold metal box on the registration table, being sure to identify who/what the payment is for.

Please be sure to enter any titles completed at this trial on the sheet provided.

Smooth operation of the trial will depend on everyone kicking in to help. The helper list will be on the table with the course maps. Remember that you can work part of a class you're entered in.

Looking forward to a good one!
